  • Participation in multiple hiring committees across disciplines, contributing to candidate evaluation and selection processes, ensuring a diverse and qualified pool of candidates for faculty and staff positions.
     

Academic Lab and Studio Safety Committee
Member (2022-2023)
Duties Included:

  • Oversaw chemical safety protocols in studio and laboratory settings, ensuring compliance with institutional, state, and federal safety regulations.

  • Developed and implemented risk management strategies for handling hazardous materials in art studios (Ceramics, Sculpture, Printmaking) and chemical labs.

  • Assisted in conducting regular safety audits, inspections, and reviews of equipment and materials storage to minimize potential hazards.

  • Provided training to faculty, staff, and students on the safe use and disposal of chemicals and art materials, fostering a culture of safety within the Fine Arts department.

  • Collaborated with Environmental Health and Safety officers to update and maintain Material Safety Data Sheets (MSDS) and ensure proper labeling and handling of substances.

  • Advised on the procurement of safety equipment and ensured availability of personal protective equipment (PPE) for all studio users.

Duties included:: 

  • Facilitating cross-divisional discussions to ensure alignment with institutional goals and student learning outcomes.

  • Reevaluating and ultimately producing a cohesive framework for Lyon’s general education classes that reflects contemporary educational standards and enhances student engagement.

  • Leading the comprehensive review and overhaul of the Core Curriculum, collaborating with faculty from all divisions (Fine Arts, STEM, Language, History, etc.), the Provost, and the Core Curriculum Committee.

  • Facilitating committee discussions and decision-making processes on curriculum revisions to ensure academic rigor and alignment with institutional goals.

  • Organizing and leading regular meetings, developed agendas, and ensured productive discourse among faculty from diverse academic disciplines.

  • Coordinating the assessment and revision of general education requirements to reflect contemporary academic standards and student needs.

  • Managing the proposal, review, and approval process for new courses, degree programs, and modifications to existing programs.

  • Providing detailed reports and recommendations to academic leadership, the faculty senate, and the administration on curriculum changes and their impacts on faculty and student experiences.

  • Aiding in the creation of a digital file management system created to facilitate Divisional Chairs in submitting curriculum proposals and disseminating a copy to the Faculty Assembly President and Administrative Assistant as well as the members of the Curriculum Committee.
